Studded Fin Tube
The STUDDED Fin Tube is manufactured by Resistance Welding of Studs on the Bare tubes
The fins are produced using an electrical resistance welding process, where the fin material—typically a stud or rod—is welded directly to the base of the tube. This method ensures a strong, durable bond between the fin and tube, enhancing the overall heat transfer performance.
- Overview
- Specifications
Steel studs are automatically resistance welded to tubes, creating high-quality forge welds. Our state-of-the-art studding machines can accommodate tube diameters ranging from 60mm to 219mm outer diameter (o/d), with a standard stud diameter of 12.7mm.
This advanced welding process supports the combination of various material grades for both studs and tubes, including carbon steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, and high nickel alloys. After the studding process, alloy steel tubes undergo a stress-relief treatment according to the relevant specifications for the specific class and grade of steel, ensuring enhanced durability and performance.

Special Application
Steel studded tubes are utilized in place of finned tubes for heat transfer applications within the petrochemical industry, particularly in furnaces and boilers. These environments often feature highly corrosive surfaces and dirty gas streams that necessitate frequent or intensive cleaning. The robust construction of steel studded tubes makes them well-suited for such harsh conditions, providing durable and reliable heat transfer solutions in challenging petrochemical processes.
